The scene returns to the hospital where Zealot was being tended to. However, we fast forward a few days following The Hand Dealt and the Damage done. In a wing on the opposite side of the hospital sits a recovering Alastair Anarion with his head partially wrapped in guaze flipping through the 3 uninspiring cable channels on the TV.
2 nurses escort a new patient into the recovery room that catches Alastair’s attention. It’s the dark elf assassin herself: Nidali Rainmolder. Fresh of a beatdown from Cutie Booties, she appears patched up herself. Alastair speaks up.
Alastair Anarion: Sorry to bother you, but I feel like I’ve seen you somewhere before.
Nidali Rainmolder: I can’t confirm or deny that. Shadows have no bounds.
Alastair: Adorable, yet predictable. You should know better, Nidali.
Nidali: (chuckles as she removes some gauze from her head) Clearly, I don’t when it comes to finishing some of my tasks. Turns out that stealing an anime waifu’s boots to finish her off and send her packing back to Japan was bound to backfire on me.
Their heads take WAAAAY more damage than I thought they would.
Shame really. I had some good intel I was working on. So much so that it distracted our team during our championship defense that…didn’t go well.
Alastair: Intel, you say?
Nidali: Your intrigue is well timed. It involves you…and the Templar.
Alastair suddenly moves from his incapacitated state in excitement.
Alastair: Zealot! That son of a bitch left me for dead! What did you fi-OW!
Alastair recoils in some pain and gets a passing glare from a disappointed nurse. She shakes her head and continues walking past the door.
Nidali: Don’t make me press the button already, fool. I know you’re upset, but you have to sit and listen. He’s taking orders from a mysterious sources according to some audio tapes recorded in the men’s locker room at High Strangeness 2.
Alastair: I had a feeling something was off about him that evening. Do you know who it was?
Nidali: Sadly, no. It doesn’t seem good though. I feel as though he’s following this person’s orders for some personal gain. Just like every other Templar before him. Starting with good intentions, but quickly becoming corrupt.
Alastair: It’s not just him.
Nidali is confused by Alastair’s sudden claim.
Nidali: Come again?
Alastair: It’s all men. Always keeping our kind below their place in the universe.
Nidali: You do know I have a human for a teammate, right? Did you watch the show?
Before Nidali continues her rebuttal, Alastair, as if inspired by his new mindset, springs to his feet and removes his bandages to the amazement of some medical personnel nearby.
Alastair: If so, that is a burden you can handle by yourself. I didn’t use to think much of this throughout my career, but I was blind to a lot of things.
Alastair continues talking as he enters a restroom to change into casual clothing and comes back into the room.
I should’ve listened to them much earlier in my career. Their viewpoints are becoming quite clear to me now.
Nidali: You don’t mean…
Alastair: I have a lot to accomplish in little time. I must leave for now. I have a lot to say to Mr. Zealot.
Farewell.
Alastair bolts from the hospital with all his belongings to the shock of the staff and Nidali Rainmolder. Nidali shakes her head in disgust and sheds her medical tending.
Nidali: Poor fool.
Nidali also leaves the hospital as the scene fades.
