The scene opens up inside the owner’s office of ESTRELLA. Inside, we see the group known as La Famiglia doing a random assortment of business activities. Penny Nichols and Benny The Fitz are busy counting money in various denominations. ESTRELLA champion Catalina Maggia is seen polishing her title belt. Overseeing them all is the boss Don Dinero with MAJO by his side as a personal bodyguard. All of a sudden the closed office door is blasted open by a boisterous Liza LuPone.
Don Dinero: Woah woah woah! What is the reason for this disturbance, Liza? You know my time is on a request only basis, do you not?
Liza LuPone: Now is not the time for formalities, Mr. Dinero. This is a star in the making you are talking to and I need another chance to shine!
MAJO tries to move towards Liza, but Don holds her back with a wave of an arm.
Don: No, no. I’ll take care of this.
MAJO stands back as Don gets up to address Liza.
You know, I’ve actually been trying to make room in my very busy schedule to talk to you, Ms. LuPone. Honestly.
Liza: Wait….you….really mean that?
Don: Yes, I do. You see, there’s no denying your potential here in ESTRELLA. You were one of the pioneers of the organization and you have demonstrated that well with your lengthy reign as ESTRELLITA champion.
Liza: I appreciate the kind words, Mr. Dinero. I really do. However…
Don: However is right, my dear. You did lose the belt. You did gain your ESTRELLA title shot. You lost fair and square. No gimmicks. No trickery.
Liza: I know I lost my opportunity, but I’ve been fighting this fight all my life. A chance to be the main attraction is what I’ve dreamed for. I just came up short this time. All I’m asking is for another chance.
Don: I understand. Truly I do. Normally, considering the lack of legitimate competitors at the moment, I would grant you another chance. However, there is something that just recently came to my attention regarding you.
Liza appears puzzled.
You see before you came in trying to request another chance at the title, a certain someone has actually requested for your services to meet with them in the ring.
Liza: Really? Who in the world would want me in a match with them? I understand you work on a request basis now, but I’ve never really been known to share a leading role either, darling.
Don: Yeah, about that. You see this certain person requested you because of this “sharing of a leading role” you mentioned. You see, she-
Before Don can finish his statement, a bicycle horn is heard at the doorway. Liza turns around and sees a somewhat familiar face. It’s Jo King alongside her male counterparts in Punch E. Nello and Charly Tan.
Liza: I thought something felt funny about this whole ordeal.
Jo King: HAHAHAHA! Hilarious as always, Liza. Though not as hilarious as that L you took to Miss Italy over there.
Catalina Maggia: Watch who you are addressing, clown.
Jo: Oh nooooooooooooooooooo………I meant no harm. Just rubbing the disgrace back into my former partner’s face here.
Liza: Just like you continue to rub that excess makeup on your disgrace of a face.
Jo: Hmph! This is so you, Liza. This is why No More Drama isn’t a thing anymore. You saw me as someone who held you back from your spotlight. You saw me as your biggest pet peeve. Comedy: the lowest form of entertainment.
Well I hate to break it to you, but at the end of the day, we are one in the same. The only real difference is that I have finally accepted my fate that what used to make people laugh doesn’t as much anymore. I just need to be more…convincing with my act.
Punch and Charly both grin menacingly alongside Jo.
You on the other hand are never content. You are always seeking a chance at greatness that will never be reached. Not accepting your fate as a B level talent. That dear…is the real joke I see here.
Liza becomes furious.
Liza: You’re crossing a very fine line here, toots. I will not let you get in the way of my dreams, even if it means I have to go right through you. Perhaps then my light will finally shine.
Don: Great. It’s settled then. We’ll have the two of you face each other at the next ESTRELLA show. From there, I will ponder what comes next for you two. Now if you will be so kind to escort yourselves out and not leave behind any banana peels or other trickery, it would be much appreciated. MAJO!
Liza and Jo stare each other down as MAJO escorts Liza and the clowns out the door. Don lights a cigar and reclines back in his office chair.
Don: The things I do to provide quality entertainment
The scene fades to black.
