WonderZone vs. Renegades of Funk
Dai Gensui thoughts: Well, it looks like the rust just took a round to settle in here. The lack of ring time killed WonderZone as the fresh, new Renegades of Funk took them to boot camp. Unknown Soulja in particular was quite unstoppable and he suplexed and kicked around both Billy and Steve. This new team means business.
Necessary Roughness vs. Beasts of the East
Dai Gensui thoughts: There were quite a few things to discuss here. Coming off a lackluster performance and going into second round of matches, Matt Burke was much more motivated to the point of extreme violence. He used everything at his disposal to bust up both competitors and eventually succeeded by making Miami Machine bleed. From there, a brawl ensued between both teams and eventually resulted in Matt Burke getting legitimately knocked out after a Hurricane Slam on the apron! From there, Tank tried all he can, but the numbers game was not in his favor. There’s a lot to clean up here. More details later.
Male wrestler showcase: Team STUFF vs. Team OEG
Dai Gensui thoughts: Let’s be honest here. This was the Piston Suzuki show. Piston dominated all 4 of the young rookies and probably made some of them reconsider their career choices. The rest of Team STUFF didn’t stand out too much save for the occasional Umbra choke. As for Team OEG, Isaiah Box was in charge of carrying the team mostly, but ended up paying for it by getting CRIT’d by a roundhouse kick.
Female wrestler showcase: Winning team goes to the big show!
Dai Gensui thoughts: Pretty clear who the dominant team was. With Kimiko and Keiko setting the pace, the other team struggled to get going outside of a remarkable performance by the youngster Taryn Miller. The other team’s Achilles heel though was the semi-conscious Constance Noring. Her lethargy pretty much wrapped up the win as she slept in Kimiko’s Kikensei Clutch.
Chris Stellar/Galileo Del Mundo vs. Rage Against Age
Dai Gensui thoughts: While it seemed like RAA was ahead of the match in terms of experience and control, things eventually unraveled for them as their age caught up to them. The faster and more agile Chris and Galileo spun them in circles and probably made their opponents contemplate AARP benefits. Again, very impressive combo this hodge-podge team has become.
Dirty Jobbers vs. The Usual Insects
Dai Gensui thoughts: Well, well, well. Insects and dirty individuals. A match made in heaven? Apparently, yes. What an incredible showing by both teams here. It really could have gone either way. The Dirty Jobbers picked up the upset win, though you have to wonder if that took a lot out of them. Time will tell.
